How self-similar processes persistence determines the queue length distribution moments

چکیده
In this paper we compare the queue performances of three different traces with gaussian marginals generated using the discrete-time Fractional Gaussian Noise algorithm [1]. We have introduced some additional features in one out of the three traces generation process to have less dependence on very large time scale (as it is the case in video traffic). We highlight the issues at stake when we look at the way the correlation structure influences the moments of the queue length.

Second Moment of Queue Size with Stationary Arrival Processes and Arbitrary Queue Discipline
In this paper we consider a queuing system in which the service times of customers are independent and identically distributed random variables, the arrival process is stationary and has the property of orderliness, and the queue discipline is arbitrary. For this queuing system we obtain the steady state second moment of the queue size in terms of the stationary waiting time distribution of a s...

A sensitivity analysis of a single-server, infinite-buffer queue with correlated arrivals and correlated service times is performed. We study and compare the isolated impact of (normalized) marginal moments and (normalized) correlation structures of the arrival and service processes on the performance measures of such a queue. For these correlated processes, we use Markovian arrival processes o...
متن کاملSensitivity and Approximation of M/G/c Queue: Numerical Experiments∗
The sensitivity of the performance measures such as the mean and the standard deviation of the queue length and the blocking probability with respect to the moments of the service time are numerically investigated. The steady state distribution of M/G/c queue is approximated by that of the M/PH/c queue where the phase type (PH) distribution is fitted by matching the first three moments of the s...
متن کاملEstimation of the Admissible Load in a Two Priority System
This paper discusses admission control in a two-priority system. The main aim is to evaluate the maximum load that can be admitted to a finite low priority buffer when the constraint on the packet loss ratio is given. To calculate the admissible low priority load we propose the approximate analysis that exploits just two first moments of stochastic processes involved. The method lets us derive ...
